Hockey heritage celebrated

The Redbacks Hockey Club will celebrate its heritage with the launch of a new uniform this Saturday during the 13th round of the 2022 Lower South East Hockey Association season.

Formed in 1978, the Lower South East Hockey Association club wore royal blue shirts with a red and white stripe before changing to a white shirt in 1992.

The new uniform sees a return to traditional royal blue tops.

“It’s a modern look with a subtle nod to our club’s history,” said Redbacks Hockey Club president Aaron Barry.

The club is inviting past players and supporters to see the new uniform in action at 2pm on Saturday when the Division 1 women take on Tigers.

The game will be followed by an opportunity to catch up with old friends while viewing a display of photographs and previous incarnations of the playing uniform.

Redbacks’ Heritage Day is on Saturday, July 30 from 2pm to 5pm at LSEHA club rooms at Blue Lake Sports Park, Mount Gambier.
