A touch of pageantry will be added to the 2022 Anzac Day commemoration in Millicent.
Uniformed mounted horsemen are set to take part in the yearly mid-morning march along a closed George Street on April 25.
Members of the Third Light Horse Re-enactment Troop based at Naracoorte have accepted an invitation to take part in the ceremony which was extended by the Millicent RSL.
The horsemen will join RSL members, serving personnel and next-of-kin in the street march and will then stand guard at the Millicent Cross of Sacrifice for the mid-morning service.
It will be an early start again for the Third Light Horse Re-enactment Troop members as they will be on duty at 5.30am in their home town for the Naracoorte Anzac Day dawn service.
They have participated in other Anzac commemorative events across in recent years including Kalangadoo Remembers at the town’s cemetery and Mount Gambier’s street march.
A pair of horsemen and their mounts also took part in the commemoration of the centenary of the Robe war memorial earlier this month.
A number of official Light Horse regiments were in existence across regional South Australia before World War II including one at Mount Gambier.
