Icon-iq drive electrified

The all electric Hyundai Ioniq 6 has taken the world by storm since being named the World Car of the Year at the New York motor show in April and is now on show at Barry Maney Hyundai to experience the EV drive for yourself.

There are three variants across the manufacturer’s Ioniq 6 range, with the Dynamiq boasting the largest electric range in the fleet followed by the Techniq and Epiq models.

From the outside the Ioniq 6 bodylines are grafted in a way to minimise drag and allow air to glide across the panel surface to maximise the vehicle’s efficiency when hitting the road.

The latest LED headlight technology is featured up front in a neat and stylish package, while Hyundai has brought it’s slender LED lighting style to the rear of the vehicle running across the entire width in what some could argue to be a Porsche-inspired design, right down to the rear wing directing airflow across the back of the vehicle.

Keeping the body streamlined are auto flush door handles which pop out automatically when the vehicle is unlocked and slide back into the door panel when on the move.

Fitted with aero-efficient 18-inch wheels it’s easy to see how Hyundai’s Ioniq 6 can cut through the wind and deliver maximum range when hitting the road.

Adding a splash of colour to the Ioniq 6 range, Hyundai has made the EV available in Serenity White, Nocturne Grey, Abyss Black, Digital Green, Byte Blue, Biophillic Ink, Ultimate Red and Gravity Gold.

While it sits at the lower end of the power output scale in the range with a 168kW motor and 350Nm of torque driven by a 77.4kWh battery, the instant and smooth power delivery to the front wheels mean the EV is no slouch and still delivers a maximum travel distance of 614 kilometres off a single charge with the capability of punching battery power back in from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes through the manufacturers Ultra-Rapid Charging system.

While the roofline tapers at the rear of the vehicle for aero efficiency there is still ample room for taller passengers when sitting in the rear of the vehicle.

The Hyundai Ioniq 6 Dynamic is equipped with heated front seats to help keep you warm on these chilly Mount Gambier days, with 10-way power adjustment and two-way lumbar support also adding comfort to the driver and front passenger seating.

The rear cargo space is also a touch deceptive from the outside of the vehicle, with a 401-litre compartment with underfloor storage able to fit large suitcases as well as a 45-litre ‘frunk’ up front for smaller items.

Tucked neatly behind the steering wheel is an integrated 12.3-inch cluster and 12.3-inch infotainment display providing a widescreen view of all essential vehicle information and accessibility for selecting radio channels, bluetooth audio, Apple CarPlay or Android Auto functionality and satellite navigation.

Interactive ‘pixel lighting’ and speed sensitive ambient mood lighting also add a touch of personalisation throughout the cabin.

With more technology than you can poke a stick at, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 also doubles as a portable power source with the ability to take advantage of its 250V power outlets inside and out to quickly charge anything from laptops to e-bikes.

Over-The-Air software updates can also be delivered to your Ioniq 6 without the need to visit a service centre and i-Pedal mode allows for an intuitive ‘one pedal’ drive that can slow and stop the vehicle without engaging the mechanical brakes to create more regenerative power.

For those looking for an EV that packs more of a punch at the sacrifice of a bit of range, the Ioniq 6 Techniq and Epiq variants are paired with a 239kW motor and 605Nm of torque with a slightly lower maximum orange of 519km off of a single charge.

These variants are also fitted with stylish 20-inch wheels and Pirelli P Zero tyres to take advantage of the Ioniq 6 HTRAC dual motor all wheel drive system, a wide sunroof and heated and ventilated front seats with heated steering wheel and rear seating.

The Epiq also kicks things up a notch in the tech department, adding a conditioning system to the lithium-ion battery along with digital side mirrors.

Pricing for the Hyundai Ioniq 6 Dynamic starts at $79,033.44 driveaway with stock available for fast delivery.
