Illegal weapons seized

Limestone Coast Police have seized three illegal firearms in separate incidents in the region in recent days.

In the first incident, police attended an industrial address on Princes Highway after receiving information that firearms were being stored illegally.

With the assistance of a police firearms detection dog, the address was searched and a homemade firearm and ammunition was located.

A 44-year-old Millicent man was arrested and charged with firearms offences.

He was initially refused bail, but later bailed to reappear in the Mount Gambier Magistrates Court in March next year.

In the second incident, police were called to a house in Mount Gambier for an unrelated matter.

Officers discovered that a firearm was being stored at the address.

Police subsequently searched the property and located a homemade shotgun and ammunition.

A 42-year-old Mount Gambier man was arrested and charged with firearms offences.

In a separate incident, Penola and Millicent Police searched a Nangwarry property and allegedly located a homemade shotgun.

A 38-year-old man was arrested and charged with aggravated possess prescribed firearm and breach of bail.
