Aland swap of private and public land will ensure cattle grazing at Coonawarra do not interfere with the operation of the rail trail which is currently under construction.
The October monthly meeting of Wattle Range Council spent 20 minutes considering correspondence from two Coonawarra graziers.
They were concerned the rail trail would interfere with vehicular access to their cattle yards.
Council agreed to a multi-part motion to realign the rail trail as well as have the landowners meet certain obligations.
Earlier in the meeting, there were unrelated confidential discussions lasting 25 minutes relating to the tender evaluation report for the Coonawarra/Penola rail trail.
Work on the 30km Coonawarra/Penola rail trail began last week.
It will cater to a range of users including recreational walkers and runners, cyclists, and tourists wanting to visit wineries and other destinations, starting from the town of Penola leading through several vineyards and wineries to Coonawarra
