Liberals meet to elect delegates

Party insiders expect a spirited election process when the annual general meeting of the Liberal Party MacKillop State Electorate Committee is held at the clubrooms of the Hatherleigh Football Club on Sunday morning.

The meeting will choose five delegates to the powerful Liberal Party State Council with rumours that those aligned with the moderate faction of the party will put their names forward.

The meeting will be overseen by MacKillop SEC secretary Katherine McBride and president Sonia Winter.

Ms McBride is the wife of Member for MacKillop Nick McBride and she unsuccessfully contested Liberal Party pre-selection for the Federal seat of Barker last month.

Ms Winter is a Naracoorte accountant, delegate to State Council and secretary/treasurer of the Naracoorte branch of the Liberal Party.

The agenda lists the election of all office-holders, reports and policy discussion with Mr McBride the guest speaker.

The forum will be followed by a two-course, sit-down lunch.

Hatherleigh is near the southern extremity of the MacKillop electorate as it expanded its boundaries at the 2022 poll as far north as Pinnaroo.
