Lifeline overflows with generosity

A prominent South East charity has put a temporary halt to donations of goods from the public of Millicent.

Lifeline South East usually appreciates community donations of clean, resaleable goods like clothes, books, or bric a brac to sell at its six Lifeline Shops.

All the money raised through the six Op Shops helps to fund the work it does for the local community such as 24/7 phone counselling.

However, the chutes have been taped over at its collection bins in Short Street and Kentish Place in Millicent.

Signs at both places advise would-be donors that items are not currently being accepted as the Lifeline South East warehouse is full.

Lifeline South East provides a suite of inclusive counselling and help services and manages a warehouse and six shops across the Limestone Coast and Murraylands.

The income from the shops supports the provision of programs and services which focus on the needs of the local community in times of crisis.
