Along career on the bench draws to a close tomorrow for retiring magistrate Jack Fahey.
He has been seen in courts across the South East region in recent weeks in a relieving capacity.
He had also presided over regular court hearings at Naracoorte, Bordertown and Mount Gambier and Millicent between 2010 and 2013 as the South East resident magistrate.
He is no stranger to rural life as he has worked as a solicitor and magistrate in such places as Wudinna, Ceduna and Coober Pedy.
“I married a farmer’s daughter from Wudinna and I spent five years working as a lawyer in that town,” he said.
It has long been the custom for the Magistrates’ court to convene in Millicent on a monthly basis.
At its most recent hearing on Wednesday, Mr Fahey considered 36 adult criminal matters.
Most related to behavioural, drink driving and other traffic offences.
