Mayoress shows she’s no fool

Wattle Range Mayoress Shari Noll has repeatedly shown she has a keen sense of humour during her 5.5 years in the role.

It was again shown this week when she played along with an April Fools Day gag posted by our journalist Fred Smith on his social media account.

Fred wrote a fake news item on Monday morning.

“Millicent is set to welcome H.R.H. Anne, the Princess Royal, in November, as the guest-of-honour at the Millicent Show,” he wrote.

“The Princess is expected to judge the Champion Rose, lunch at Vera’s Dining Hall and present the trophy to the winner of the Demo Derby.

“An official announcement is expected soon from Buckingham Palace.”

Within a few minutes of this tongue-in-cheek post, a quick-witted Ms Noll had replied.

“Sorry, Fred, but your information is incorrect,” wrote Ms Noll.

“The media release states that she’s participating in the demo derby.

“Can you correct your social media post? The rest of your post is correct, though.”
