The current crime spree in Millicent continued overnight on Monday when business premises in the CBD were broken into and property was stolen.
It is understood that the break-in occurred between 1am and 4am on Tuesday.
It was the fifth such incident in Millicent in as many days and coincides with break-ins at other towns in the SE region such as Penola.
Senior Sergeant First Class Rick Errington, officer-in-charge of Millicent police, has urged Millicent business owners to check their CCTV footage from Tuesday morning to see if there is any evidence of suspicious behaviour.
He has also recommended that they check the operation of their security measures such as locks, alarms and CCTV systems in the wake of the criminal activity.
Meanwhile, Sgt Errington said revellers were generally well-behaved at New Year’s Eve celebrations in the towns of Beachport and Robe.
Sgt Errington, who oversaw police operations over the festive season, said there were two exceptions and was critical of the unruly behaviour of some patrons in attendance at licensed premises at Beachport on Boxing Day.
He said one male adult was arrested and charged with behavioural offences.
Sgt Errington said a pop-up “Bush Doof” in sandhills and scrub north of Beachport on New Year’s Eve was another source of great concern.
He said the event drew hundreds of 4WD vehicles to the area and there were many examples of reckless and dangerous driving.
“An 18-year-old male suffered a serious leg injury and this tied up the SA Ambulance Service for four or five hours,” Sgt Errington said.
“We have identified a person of interest.
“People should respect the sandhills but correct and responsible behaviour is not occurring.
“We will be working with National Parks, Wattle Range and other councils in readiness for holiday long weekends in March.
“A lot of visitors from Victoria come here.
“We do not want to see the beaches closed and we want people to be safe.”
