The Lions Club of Millicent has bestowed an honour on its longest-serving member.
Retired Millicent grazier Fred Ellis (pictured) has been presented with a chevron to mark 55 years of membership.
He had joined a few years after the Millicent service club was founded in 1964.
His service to the community has been remarkable after taking up a Soldier Settler block at Canunda over 60 years ago.
Mr Ellis was an elected member of the former Millicent District Council and has been involved with the RSL, Liberal Party, Masonic Lodge, Probus and Uniting Church.
He served aboard minesweepers with the Royal Australian Navy during World War II.
His 95th birthday is in May.
