Millicent United took on Blue Lake on Saturday and came away with the victory at McLaughlin Park in a low scoring affair.
Both sides were very even and shared possession with the ball in the opening half, sharing changes but neither was able to convert, ending the half with the scoreline 0-0.
The story continued in the second half with neither side able to register the opening goal.
As time ran down many on the sidelines watching were the game could go into extra time.
However that changed as Millicent were able to crack the Blue Lake defence and take the lead from a corner kick, with Eliza Dower finding the back of the net off the set piece to put her side up in the 73rd minute.
The Rangers tried their best to respond with little time left in the game, but could not come up with a score levelling goal and eventually fell short.
Millicent coach Linda Carter Shepherd was pleased with how her side played in the win.
“I think we played really well, we came out strong in the first half and our passing game was exceptional,” she said.
“There was a bit of a lull in the last 10 minutes of the first half so we came in and regrouped at half time and went out fighting and we pressed really hard in the second half.”
Carter Shepherd said she was pleased with the performances of many players across the board.
“Obviously Eliza (Dower) who scored but we also had some great play by Lana Shepherd and Letitia Izzo as well as Phoebe (Rose) in the back line was amazing and also Dianne Wilson our goalie who kept another clean sheet,” she said.
Millicent United defeated Blue Lake 1-0.
Millicent United will face Apollo on Saturday at Casadio Park in the grand final.
