Anumber of locals faced the Mount Gambier Magistrates Court presided over by Magistrate Koula Kossiavelos last week for driving offences.
On June 2 police were on patrol when they observed a 46-year-old Limestone Coast man parked on the western verge of Mount Gambier’s Penola Road in a blue Mitsubishi station wagon towing a trailer.
Further checks by police revealed the man was unlicensed and the vehicle and trailer were both uninsured and unregistered.
The defendant was convicted and issued with a six month suspended sentence and a $600 fine.
A 22-year-old Limestone Coast man faced the court convicted of drug driving after being pulled over in a white Ford utility by police at around 9pm on June 1 on Kurrajong Street, Mount Gambier, for a driver screening test.
Police conducted a drug wipe which revealed a positive result for MDMA and methamphetamine.
The defendant was convicted and issued with a six month licence disqualification effective immediately and a $900 fine.
A South East man was convicted of drink driving and contravening a condition of a provisional licence after being pulled over in his Holden sedan by police at 2.56pm on June 6 on Glenelg River Road at OB Flat.
The man recorded a BAC of 0.062, was given a driver direction notice and had his vehicle impounded.
The defendant’s disqualified from driving for six months, backdated to midnight on June 24 and fined $1100.
A 27-year-old South East woman was convicted of drug driving after being pulled over by police on June 1 at 3.36am in Mount Gambier and returning a positive drug test result.
The woman was issued with a six month licence disqualification backdated to June 28 and a $900 fine.
