Nationals contest MacKillop seat

Sitting Liberal MP Nick McBride is facing a conservative challenger in his bid to win a second term in office.

Jonathan Pietzsch is the South Australian National Party candidate for the electorate of MacKillop at the 2022 State Election in March.

Mr Pietzsch has his own farm at Tintinara and also manages a rural property in that area.

“I am running to ensure that decisions made that affect regional families and communities are made by people from regional families and communities,” Mr Pietsch said.

“I believe the recent issues around COVID cross border communities have highlighted why we need dedicated rural representation.”

The last National Party candidate to contest MacKillop was Tantanoola mill worker Darren O’Halloran in 2010.

He captured more than 17% of the primary vote and finished second in a field of five to sitting Liberal Mitch Williams.

Ahead of the March poll the Nationals have also endorsed male candidates in the Riverland seat of Chaffey and the Barossa Valley seat of Schubert.
