Naturalists have field day at 60th

The Millicent Field Naturalists Society recently celebrated its 60th Anniversary with a full program of activities.

The day began with morning tea at Lake McIntyre followed by a Welcome to Country from Uncle Doug Nicholls and a message of congratulations from Wattle Range Mayor Des Noll.

There was walk in the sunshine around the lovely area at Lake McIntyre and a barbecue lunch was cooked by the Millicent Lions

Club.

After lunch, participants moved to the Lions Den in Millicent where there was a display of photos, newspaper clippings and other memorabilia.

The Millicent Field Naturalists date back to June, 1963 when 17 interested persons attended a meeting convened by Mount Burr Forest worker Herman Bakker.
