The Limestone Coast’s new football and netball league was launched with great enthusiasm in Mount Gambier on Wednesday night.
The commencement of the new Limestone Coast Football Netball League, which replaces the now defunct Western Border Football League and Western Border Netball Association, was greeted with excitement by a host of club delegates who gathered for the launch.
The league’s interim committee chair Scott Duncan hosted proceedings, with SANFL Head of Community Football Shawn Ford called on to announce the league’s new executive committee.
The committee will be led by Kurt Slaven, who is the former president of both South Gambier and Woodville West Torrens Football Clubs, and also a retired Detective.
Joining him will be new members David Shipway, Nick Zema, Tanya Coxon and Adrian Flowers.
Mr Shipway is a former SANFL Commissioner and Chairperson of the Community Football Board, as well as being West Adelaide Football Club president and owner of BL Shipway.
Mr Zema, the director of Zema Wines, has an extensive background in cricket administration, Ms Coxon is the managing director of Willow Financial Services and a former netballer for several clubs in the WBFL, and Mr Flowers is the general manager of Tabeel Trading.
They will join existing members Michael Summers, Adam Salmon and Di Gould on the committee, while interim members Michael Mourbey, Heath Sims and Scott Duncan will step down and continue with their SANFL roles.
The new league’s interleague strip was also debuted at the gathering, featuring a blue, yellow and green design.
