‘New’ school marks 50 year anniversary

Morning tea and tours for the public will be provided at Mount Burr on October 21 to mark a significant anniversary.

It will be 50 years exactly to the day since the official opening of the “new” Mount Burr Primary School.

The modern structure replaced the 1930s-era original school and was based on the open space education theory which was in vogue in the 1970s.

The honour of opening the school was given to Member for Millicent and Deputy Premier Des Corcoran (now deceased).

A time capsule was buried under the commemorative cairn near the front entrance on this day and it will be opened on October 21.
