Lobster fishers are pleased with the catch rates in the opening fortnight of the 2023/24 season which began on September 1.
Robe Professional Fishermen’s Association treasurer Paul Regnier said overall the season had begun well but not quite as good as a year ago.
“We were able to fish the first 10 days at this time last year as the weather was perfect,” Mr Regnier said.
“However, we have had a couple of rough days this month and we have had to stay in port.
“The price has been sitting between $50 and $60 per kilo with the market still seeking the larger lobsters.”
Mr Regnier said he had noticed uniformed PIRSA officers going about various compliance tasks.
