Pageant royalty crowned

Former Mount Gambier local Teagan Hazelwood has been crowned a princess in the upcoming 2022 Adelaide National Pharmacies Christmas Pageant Royal Family.

The 32-year-old said it was “very exciting” to be crowned princess and she had always wanted to be involved in the pageant.

“When I was a little girl we would drive up from the country and get a spot and watch it,” Ms Hazelwood said.

“And my other childhood dream was to be a princess, so

I think it’s all aligned quite nicely.”

Ms Hazelwood will be on the Royal Family Float in the Christmas pageant this year as a princess along with the other princess, queen, two princes and king.

Ms Hazelwood said the royal family would welcome Father Christmas on pageant day and she was looking forward to seeing everyone smiling and providing the community with Christmas joy and happiness.

“I cannot wait to see all the kids’ faces, I have got two little boys myself so I’m very excited to see them in the crowd, too,” she said.

“I believe we get to go to the Women’s and Children’s hospital and visit the kids after the pageant in our costumes so I think that will be an amazing experience as well.”

Ms Hazelwood said the dresses the royal family will wear in the pageant would be revealed at a dress reveal later in the month.

“We get to wear an amazing dress by a local designer, her name is Cristina Tridente,” Ms Hazelwood said.

“She’s like a couture-type bridal wear designer, so that’s very exciting to represent her as well.”

Ms Hazelwood hoped her values and the way she answered the questions during the royal family application process were what set her apart from the rest to earn the princess role.

“I do love giving back, I am very much about the people as well and the community and hopefully they recognised that in my answers,” she said.

“I’m obviously very proud to represent National Pharmacies due to the fact they are so community-based and very giving back to the people and their values align with mine as well.

“So I am very excited and very proud.”
