Penola’s wings clipped in tight match

The Kowree Naracoorte Tatiara Netball Association season rolled on last weekend where Penola fell just short yet again after Naracoorte took the win in a tight contest at home.

Scoring from both sides was back and forward as the Demons took a three-goal lead into half time.

Despite missing the key shooter April Possingham, Penola mounted a fight back to put the pressure on the hosts in the second half.

It became a good tussle but the Eagles fell nine goals short in the end.

Penola’s sharp shooter Karly Honner was good with 23 goals, while Lucy Henschke stood out for the Demons with a match-high 37.

Mundulla played host to Bordertown in a game under lights on Friday and it was the travelling side that took the win in an even contest.

Bordertown came away with the win by eight goals with Kimberly Langley proving a handful under the net with 45 goals with support from Clare Langley.

Chantelle Fromm and Alix Lovering were standouts for the Tigers.

The Padthaway Lions took to the court to host Kybybolite in a game that could have gone either way.

But after four tight quarters it was Kyby’s day after scoring well in three of the four quarters.

Chelsea Bull was good scoring 52 goals and was ably assisted by Charlee Hodges and Georgie Maggi.

Meanwhile for the home side Lauren Edwards and Kaitlyn Ward performed in the 29-goal loss.

Lucindale took the points in a great battle against Keith where scoring was pretty well even every quarter.

In the end the game was won by the Roos but the Crows provided some resistance before going down by 18 goals.

Both teams had sharp shooters at either end of the court and were trading goals throughout.

Lucindale’s Lucy Meyer led the way with 30 goals and was supported by Trudy Lane with 29, while Keith was fronted by Danielle Vankalken and Erika Lamont 29 and 12 respectively.
