It has been decided the annual Wattle Range Council Photographic Exhibition will again be digital this year due to COVID restrictions.

Judging will still take place over the weekend of October 31 so the winning photographs can be used in the 2022 council calendar.

Prize-winners and the launch of the 2022 calendar will take place in late November.

Council Libraries and Cultural Services manager and curator of the exhibition Janice Nitschke has apologised for the change.

“However, we have looked at all other opportunities and would not have been able to hang the photographs,” Ms Nitschke said.

“Panoramics will be hung and prize-winners will also be printed and hung as we did last year.

“The annual Wattle Range Art Show will follow in the Millicent Gallery.

“We are looking forward to 2022 when we celebrate 30 years of the Millicent Gallery and another Photographic Exhibition in our Gallery.”

Entries close on October 16 with the judges in place anticipating another exciting exhibition.

Held annually, the exhibition captures the vibrancy and diversity of the Wattle Range region and has proven to be a great opportunity for photographers to exhibit their images, demonstrated by the number of entries in previous years.

Since its inception in 2009 the exhibition has developed to become a premier photographic exhibition in South Australia.

“With 10 categories up for grabs, including a youth award and there is plenty of scope for the photographer to find that special photograph and we look forward to once again receiving a diverse portrayal of our district and its people,” Ms Nitschke said.
