A super-sized white hand sculpture is set to be installed today (Tuesday) at The Domain in Millicent.

Known officially as the Millicent Entry Marker, the bulk of the seven-figure construction and installation costs are being met by a Federal grant.

Construction works for footpath, lighting and landscaping commenced last month on site near the intersection of Williams Road and Ridge Terrace.

Wattle Range Council is planning an event later this year to highlight the completion of all the elements in The Domain precinct.

In a staff report to council, it was noted that council officers are actively seeking inputs from Burrandies Aboriginal Corporation in Mount Gambier.

They are looking to improve the landscape surrounding the proposed supersized white hand sculpture, including incorporating some of the local indigenous stories and narratives, sourcing of plants that are propagated by aboriginal elders, and potentially organising cultural services such as a smoking ceremony and artistic performances as a part of the official opening of the sculpture and The Domain nature playground.
