Millicent community radio station 5THE FM is hopeful it can continue to use the town’s former train station after its current lease expires in 2030.
The current lease was re-negotiated with the State Government four years ago and a peppercorn rental of $1 per annum is charged.
The State Government sold the station and surrounding land to a Millicent business operator last year and they are obliged to honour the terms of the lease.
The former railway station has housed the 5THE FM studios, offices and music library for over 30 years.
Board chairman David Walshaw said there had yet to be any formal talks with the new owner but was optimistic about its long-term base.
“The new owner is a strong supporter of 5THE FM,” Mr Walshaw said.
