Round 4 of the Millicent Naracoorte Cricket Association will kick off this weekend with the weather heating up for the occasion.
Millicent Black Hats v Mount Burr
A heat wave is forecast for this weekend and temperatures in the 30s will test the fitness of all cricketers across the South East region.
The Millicent Black Hats are well placed to defend their premiership as they lead the premiership table in the Millicent/Naracoorte Cricket Association with three wins from as many games.
The reigning premiers have had a number of players contributing with bat and ball.
None has been better than newly-minted centurion Ashton Lindner who celebrates his 17th birthday shortly.
They will host Mount Burr at Norm Facey Oval with the visitors on the road for the third time this season.
After being in Ballarat last weekend, Jordan Muhovics will resume his customary role as skipper and opening batsman.
His team needs to be at its best against the unrelenting pressure from their opponents.
NO SEA BREEZE
Kingston cricketers will not have the benefit of a cooling sea breeze as they are on the road to Rendelsham.
Given the anticipated high temperatures, any side batting first and making 150 will be in the box seat.
The visitors will be looking to dismiss Tyson Smith, Jacob Carger and Dylan Clough cheaply.
This trio all scored runs in their round two victory at Lucindale and love playing at home.
BOTH DAYS AT LUCINDALE
It will be a big sporting weekend at Lucindale on the weekend with town’s oval hosting games on both days.
Saturday’s play will feature Lucindale and the Naracoorte Warriors for premiership points in the Millicent/Naracoorte Cricket Association.
Meanwhile, the Lucindale Oval will host another cricket game on Sunday when the community marks the first anniversary of the passing of respected police officer Brevet Sergeant Jason Doig.
They will commemorate his tragic death on duty with a memorial T20 cricket match in his honour.
The game will pit Lucindale Cricket Club against Limestone Coast police officers.
A brief ceremony will be held at 11.30am with the game commencing at noon.
Sgt Doig would regularly donate his time to cook the barbecue after cricket training on Thursday nights.
He also took team photos for the cricket, football and netball clubs and was a volunteer lifesaver at the Lucindale community pool.
