Rodeo rounds up visitors

More than 2000 people flocked to the 2024 Penola and District Community Rodeo, which featured plenty of action inside the arena.

Organisers have declared the rodeo, held at Penola’s McCorquindale Park on Saturday, a huge success with locals joined by visitors from Victoria and several other states.

Committee president Judy Mountford said everything went to plan on the night, with the event bolstered by perfect weather.

Ms Mountford said the horses and bulls provided action packed entertainment, with a record number of close to 70 entries in the barrel racing.

“We will definitely be back in 2025 in January,” she said.

Live band ‘Ole’ School Daze’ entertained the crowd to finish off the night, with many attendees dancing the evening away once the arena dust had settled.

Funds raised by the event will ensure substantial donations will be made to the Penola hospital, schools and local organisations once the figures have been tallied.

The committee will meet on February 7 to finalise the donations and start planning for the 2025 rodeo.
