Seniors stop to remember

World War II veteran Ted Davis proudly took part in an annual Millicent commemorative event this month.

He wore his medals, RSL badge and a red poppy to the Remembrance Day service at Boneham Aged Care Services.

Now aged 98, his war service took him to New Guinea.

He had enlisted in the RAAF at Sydney just after he turned 18 in October 1942.

After more than 3.5 years in uniform, Mr Davis was discharged in May 1946 with the rank of Leading Aircraftman.

As part of their Aged Care Mission, the Millicent Baptist Church has been holding Anzac Day and Remembrance Day services at Boneham Aged Care Services for several years.

This was originated at the request of residents and they are very receptive to these services which, although adapted to an aged care environment, contain all the elements associated with Anzac Day and Remembrance Day.

The 2022 mid-morning service in the Diva Room was led by church member Diane Sampson.

Millicent’s three known surviving World War II veterans live at Boneham Aged Care Services and they range in age from 95 to 102.
