Seniors tour Penola region

Alarge contingent of Wattle Range seniors took the opportunity to tour the Penola region recently.

More than 50 people from Millicent travelled to Greenrise in Penola for a sausage sizzle lunch provided by the Penola Lions Club as part of Celebrate Seniors Month.

The group had already made a visit to St Mary’s Wines and toured the garden.

While enjoying lunch at the lake, Wattle Range Councillor Chris Brodie spoke to the group about the Greenrise lake, which used to be filled with water but now is dry, the arboretum of trees and the two kilometre walkway which is a popular track for locals and visitors.

He also explained how locals contributed many hours of voluntary work to beautify the area.
