Show society funds awarded

Millicent Agricultural Horticultural and Pastoral Society Inc is among 57 priority projects across the length and breadth of Australia receiving funding thanks to the Nutrien Ag Solutions Community Grants Program.

This is the third year of the program, which offers grants of up to $5000 for projects that contribute to community wellbeing and vibrancy in remote, rural and regional communities.

Nutrien Ag Solutions Corporate Affairs Advisor Mady Muirhead said the company was proud to support rural communities to implement future-focused solutions that are both attainable and sustainable.

“Thanks to our partnership with FRRR, we are able to help local grassroots organisations do more of what they do best. These organisations are the heartbeat of remote, rural, and regional communities, and raising funds for local priority projects is getting harder and harder. But we are proud to support them now, and in the long-term,” she said.

“This year we saw almost 200 local Nutrien branches endorse grant applications and we are proud to fund more than a quarter of those projects. Our people live and work in these communities and thanks to their commitment to building lasting relationships with locals, they know just what projects the community will really value.”

Since 2021, the Nutrien Ag Solutions Community Grants Program has awarded more than $750,000 in grants to 167 community-led projects, helping to create long-term positive outcomes for rural places.

Nutrien Ag Solutions Millicent Branch Manager Andrew Kleinig said the Millicent Agricultural, Horticultural and Pastoral Society was a very worthy recipient of the funding.

“Our team love being part of the Limestone Coast community and we are very proud to support a wide range of projects that meet community needs and enhance our area,” he said.

“The Millicent Agricultural, Horticultural and Pastoral Society will receive $5000 to build a much needed shade over the existing stage which accommodates the presentation of the Miss or Master Show Person.

“This is a necessity as the show is in November and sometimes the hot weather will have an effect on the participants standing in direct sunlight. It will also add an all weather option to other local activities that would like to use the stage.”

The Nutrien Ag Solutions Community Grants Program is run in partnership with the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR).

The fourth round of the Program is expected to open around June 2024.
