There was a strong response to the annual Wattle Range Council Photographic Exhibition with a record 376 entries from 50 photographers.

The recent opening at the Millicent Gallery attracted 80 exhibitors and other interested persons.

The winners were announced by Millicent Library and Gallery Manager Janice Nitschke with commentary provided by judge Steve Chapple.

He urged photographers to join the Millicent-based Limestone Coast Camera Club as a way to improve their skills.

Mr Chapple commended Ms Nitschke for staging the photographic exhibition as well as the Wattle Range Council, other library staff and volunteers.

“All entries deserved to be in the competition,” Mr Chapple said.

As before, the winning photographs will feature in the annual Wattle Range Council calendar.

Furner photographer and past winner Mary Whitehead won the black and white section as well as claiming first place in the panoramic category.

Other winners were Melissa McIntosh Kennedy (business and industry), Liam Mills(drone), Mary Irwin Davis (Lake McIntyre), Heather Burdon (nature), Tania Millard (people and portrait), Brian Watson (sport and leisure), Mackenzie Davies (youth) and Catherine Allen (landscape).

Ms Burdon and Rajat Shad were joint winners of the first-time entrant award.

Cash prizes were also given to place-getters and certificates to merit winners.

The leading entries were framed and displayed in the Millicent Gallery.
