Southern Ports serves up tricky tennis conditions

Southern Ports Tennis Association had a tricky weekend of tennis with half the teams having to cancel due to heavy downpours in Naracoorte.

The Lucindale crews toughed it out in the rain and played on the slightly more forgiving lawn courts.

Well done to everyone for a cracking first half of the season.

Merry Christmas to all the junior tennis families and enjoy a well-earned break before we return for the second half of the season at the beginning of the February.

Naracoorte Yellow def Lucindale Koalas 40- 31 games

The summer weather has still not arrived, but all players are to be commended for their willingness to play through the rain and the positive banter and attitudes towards making the most of it.

It was a close day but due to illness the last bottom doubles could not be played (although thanks to Rylan for stepping in a scratch match went ahead to ensure everyone got two games).

Vander, Cody and Rebecca all had great wins in their singles along with Vander and Cody playing well in the doubles and Rebecca and Rylan having a great match.

Fliss Beau and Jimmy had a great day out and played some strong, hard hitting tennis having clear wins.

Well done to all who played and to Naracoorte Yellow for getting the win.

Lucindale Roos def Naracoorte Blue 50 -37 games

In some super close matches in some drizzly weather at Lucindale the Lucindale Roos got the win 50-37 against Naracoorte Blue.

Although Naracoorte only won three matches there were three tie breakers that could have gone either way.

The Roos started well winning all their doubles matches.

Max Lush and Harry Robinson had a very close singles, with Max just getting over the line 6-4.

The day ended with an epic win to Ashton Gale 12-10 in a tie-break over Charles Bruce.

A day of brilliant tennis.

Meanwhile, Narcoorte Red vs Kingston and Naracoorte White vs Millicent/Beachport were both cancelled due to wet weather.
