Squad named for Portland competition

The under 13 side for the Portland carnival has been selected for the Mount Gambier and Districts Cricket Association team.

The team will be coached by Michael Haase and Luke Rainey, and their team will travel to Portland to compete against teams from across country Victoria.

The team is filled with young stars from the Limestone Coast made up from players who compete in the local Sims Shield and Hall Trophy.

While not every team is represented by a player there is a healthy mix of juniors from different teams.

South Gambier will have three representatives with Kobi Maxwell, Scott McBain and Axel Page.

Glencoe players include Sam Haase, Bailey Dale and Jack McGrath.

They will be joined by West Gambier’s Tom Richards.

The under 14s Penola Naracoorte team has had three players selected in Jock McClure, Sid Ebert and Charlie Cox.

Millicent has just the one player Cruz Gibson, and Mil Lel too only has the one player with Tatye Virtanen.

Both Gambier Centrals under 12s captains Blake Lock and Kade Rainey have been selected as well.

The team will hold a trial match against the under 12 South East side selected for Country Cup on December 11.

The fixture for the Portland carnival is yet to be released but it will occur during the Christmas break at the beginning of next year.
