Static Monsters results finalised

Recently Mount Gambier hosted the Static Monsters Worldwide competition at the Povey Strongman facility for the first time.

It was the biggest Static Monsters in history with 1253 competitors taking part from 67 events in 21 countries, which included 14 entrants from Mount Gambier, Naracoorte, Bordertown and Nhill.

The Static Monsters Worldwide is a one weekend, super sized strongman competition with events offering competitors a world ranking on their Log Lift and Axle Deadlift.

Those who place in the top 10 in their class in the Worldwide event are invited to compete head to head in one big competition to see who is the best of the monsters at the 2022 World Championships in Fortress Obetz, Columbus, Ohio, USA.

Static Monsters was put together as a small Strongman Style Push/Pull competition in November 2015 by Strongman Gold Coast and Coco’s Gym.

With the Log Lift and the Axle Deadlift being iconic strength sports events and also being well known and practiced among strongman athletes, it was the perfect fit to get people to have a go.

The competition was then opened to allow more people to be able to compete against each other under the same rules and conditions.

Static Monsters is now the biggest strongman event of its kind and has continued to grow giving new athletes the opportunity to compete for the first time without the barrier of having to learn too many events.

Static Monsters also offers experienced athletes some goals to compete for and the opportunity to compete against the best in the world under the same conditions and rules.

All Limestone Coast athletes did extremely well, with plenty of personal bests and a great standard of lifting.

Both Carly van der Hoest and Shane McArthur were awarded with the Female and Male Performance of the Day, receiving a fitbit, kindly donated by event sponsor Naracoorte Betta Home Living.

Both Brad Wagner and Jennifer Simmons received a box of wine for their stand out performances.

This was Simmons’ first competition since having a baby and she finished 52nd overall.

Carly Van Der Hoek did extremely well placing 19th in the woman’s open category as the highest local.

Other notable mentions were Sophie Morrison who placed 50th in the woman’s open category and Brad Wagner placed 46th in the Men’s U80kg, being the highest placed male at the Mount Gambier event, while Shane McArthur placed 112th in the Open Men’s, William Northcott (pictured above) placed 164th in the Men’s U105kg, Adam Marshall placed 94th in the men’s U80kg and Carmen Beaton placed 47th in the woman’s U82.5kg.

The event was sponsored by Blue Lake Cranes, Luncidale Spraying, Naracoorte Betta Home Living and Povey Strongman.
