Millicent community radio station 5THE FM has crossed another hurdle as it moves towards resumption of regular broadcasting.
Management committee chairman David Walshaw (pictured) said the station lodged its application to the Australian Communication and Media Authority for a temporary community broadcast licence last Friday.
Mr Walshaw has acknowledged the support of the South Australian Community Broadcasting Association in its bid.
“This is the first major step on our journey to get our community radio station back on air and transmitting from our Mount Burr transmitter site,” Mr Walshaw said.
“In the meantime, listeners can still stream all of our programming through the Community Broadcast App or through one of the many links on our Facebook page.”
ACMA cancelled the broadcasting licence of 5THE FM in 2022 after the regulator determined breaches of its licence conditions had been made by former management.
