Arelaxing morning tea hosted by the Tantanoola Community Playgroup recently provided an ideal opportunity to raise funds for a worthy cause.
Tantanoola Community Playgroup coordinator Sue Lines said she had the pleasure of donating $361.50 to the Cancer Council.
Despite attendance numbers being lower than last year, Mrs Lines said it was a great effort.
“Attendance numbers were affected by many factors such as illness and appointments,” she said.
Not only was the event to raise funds, it also was a chance for the playgroup to connect with the wider community.
“Playgroup took it on and restarted in 2021 as a community connect for playgroup,” Mrs Lines said.
“This year everyone seemed relaxed chatty and a lot more social.
“I thought it was a really nice relaxing morning.”
Though the official event was held nationwide on May 19, communities were invited to host any time during the month of May and June.
The playgroup intends to make the morning tea one of its main annual community get-togethers after it was reintroduced last year following a break due to COVID restrictions in 2020.
