Tiger tipped for roaring return

The licence of the Tiger Hotel at Tantanoola has officially changed hands fuelling speculation that it is set to reopen in the near future.

Kompo Brothers Enterprises Pty Ltd was granted the licence on November 26 by the Liquor and Licensing Commissioner.

This family has operated George Street Gourmet Meats in Millicent in recent years.

The hotel licence allows daily trading at the Railway Terrace premises as well as five poker machines.

The doors closed over 18 months ago when the incumbent licensees chose not to renew their lease.

Adelaide-based investors are understood to own the freehold.

Founded as the Railway Hotel 142 years ago, the first publican was Aaron Lane who also founded hotels at Millicent, Southend and Beachport.

Meanwhile, in other Tantanoola news, moves have been afoot to revive a progress/community association and two public meetings have recently been held.

The Tantanoola Progress Association went into recess over 20 years ago after being responsible for town beautification projects such as the former railway yards.
