A truck driver was arrested at Wolseley near the Victoria-South Australia border on Thursday night.
It will be alleged the man became aggressive when stopped at the checkpoint about 8.45pm on and spat at a police officer and pushed another in the chest.
The 56-year-old Victorian man was arrested and taken to the City Watch House where he was charged with two counts of assault of a prescribed emergency worker and resisting arrest. He did not apply for bail and appeared in the Mount Gambier Magistrates Court via video link on Friday.
The man has been tested for COVID and returned a negative result.
