Veteran golfer honoured

There was a surprise life membership awarded at the South East Veterans Golf Association’s annual general meeting.


Group president Glen Tilley surprised Russell Lingham with the award while he was announcing the year’s achievements at the Mount Gambier meeting.


Russell joined the group in 2009 and has taken part in 253 games, having served as secretary since 2012.


His milestone of 250+ games was also recognised at the gathering.


Fellow members Barry Brook, Peter DeLaine, Ken Milsop and John Millhouse attained 100 game awards, while David Douglas, Wayne Dunford and Peter Vile were recognised for 150 games,


Trevor Hutchesson and Murray Telfer both notched up 200 games.


The Bob Gabriel Award for best 10 rounds was presented to Penola’s Trevor Williams with 35.7 from Blue Lake’s Doug Robbins 34.5.


The year’s best score was 41 points by Kingston’s Brian Prosser.
