Voice to be heard

Acommunity forum will be held in Mount Gambier to discuss the Federal Voice to parliament.

Later this year Australians will have their say in a referendum about whether to change the Constitution to recognise the First Peoples of Australia by establishing an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice.

The Federal Government has indicated The Voice would be an independent and permanent advisory body to give advice to the Australian Parliament and government on matters that affect the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The Mount Gambier forum is being organised by Ben Hood MLC, and will be addressed by Senator Kerrynne Liddle, Senator Alex Antic and Member for Barker Tony Pasin.

The forum is being held for residents to raise any concerns about the proposal and to discuss its implications.

It will be held on August 15 at the Mount Gambier City Hall at 7pm.
