Fun, fitness and family life are the aims of a popular event which will draw the Millicent community together on one Sunday morning next month.
The Millicent Cancer Support Group is staging its popular fundraiser to coincide with Fathers’ Day on September 5.
In recent years, the group has successfully staged such events each Mothers’ Day and Fathers’ Day, with this year’s Mothers’ Day walk attracting more than 200 participants.
The coming walk will follow past practice and begin at Jubilee Park on North Terrace between 9.30am and 10.30am.
Participants can opt for either the 2km walk or the 4km walk depending on their age, fitness level or time available.
Inspirational messages about fatherhood and family life together with blue balloons will be posted around the Millicent parklands to coincide with the walk.
Group president Lisa McCourt said some changes were required due to COVID rules.
“Participants will need to sign in and we cannot serve any food,” she said.
“The COVID lockdown in July meant we had to postpone our Girls Day In at the Somerset Hotel.
“We are now looking to have it in February.”
Since its foundation in the early 1990s, the Millicent Cancer Support Group has raised thousands of dollars for charity.
Funds have been used for equipment purchases at the Millicent and District Hospital, for medical research and for the Cancer Council accommodation facilities in Adelaide.
