Apicturesque Yahl garden will open to the public this weekend.
Peter and Erica Smith will open Silverwoods, with proceeds being donated to Lions Club of Casterton projects.
Ms Smith has lovingly tended to the garden for over 43 years although half of the garden is only 20 years old having been developed from the paddock next door.
Mr Smith joined the venture 18 years ago after he and Erica married in the garden.
The name ‘Silverwoods’ came about from the planting of over 100 silver sheen pittosporums and many silver birch trees.
The garden and home on its two-acre setting is surrounded by pittosoporum hedging and has extensive plantings of shrubs, trees, natives, ferns, perennials, bulbs and fruit trees.
The lily pond, dry creek bed and sunken garden, cottage and native beds are all surrounded by lawn areas.
The rustic garden is a newer addition which came about after a very large willow tree, which was the main garden feature, devastatingly blew over in high winds back in 2017.
This garden features an old family Sunshine gate and other rustic items.
Added features of barbed wire art and pieces of yesteryear are among many other features that add character to the entire garden.
An added pleasure to the garden is over 25 different bird species that visit.
The garden, at 123 Yahl Hall Road, will open on Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm with Devonshire tea available.
Plants and artisan products will be available for purchase and entry to the gardens is $8.
