Young performers put on spectacular showcase of dance talent

Aworld of fantasy filled the Sir Robert Helpmann Theatre stage recently, as MJ Dance held its annual concert, which marked its 35th anniversary.

Dancers took to the stage and flew through the air in a series of spectacular choreographed routines, showcasing their talents.

Studio director and founder Maria Slape said the concert was the perfect way to celebrate the special year.

Ms Slape said the audience was also treated to amazing performances from MJ alumni Cooper Terry and Euan Doidge.

“We were so grateful that Cooper and Euan could return to Mount Gambier, where their careers began, to perform not only for our dancers, but also for our audience,” she said.

“A massive thank you must also go to our amazing, talented and dedicated staff and also to our guest choreographers who contributed to the show.

“Thank you to our wonderful supportive families and of course our incredibly talented dancers.

“It is always so satisfying to wake up on the morning after the show and have a great sense of joy.

I loved watching the faces of all our dancers – we really enjoyed putting the concert together this year.”

Ms Slape also congratulated her students celebrating 10 years of dancing with MJ, with Morgan Troebinger, Indi Scott and Ruby Driscoll all marking the milestone, while Mia Bellinger and Josh Shepard graduated from the academy, with Mia celebrating 15 years with MJ.
