Held at the Vansittart Park on Saturday, the carnival displayed athletes’ sporting prowess, camaraderie, team spirit and sportsmanship.

Athletes competed in a variety of sprint and distance racing events, exhibiting their athletic ability, and inspiring spectators.

The carnival gave local Little Athletics stars an opportunity to participate while also serving as a testament to the sport to create community spirit and inspire excellence, leaving an impression on everyone who had the good fortune to experience the excitement of competition at its best.

Throughout the day spectators were able to witness exciting races and close finishes, and this was highlighted in the men’s 120m final, with Hayden Rothe narrowly winning this prestigious event.

Mount Gambier’s Leila Croker demonstrated what a talent she is, by winning the under 18s girls 120m final and then going on to win the coveted 120m women’s final.

Fellow local Leslie Jagger took the honours in the 1600m Open event, after finishing third last year.

The Mount Gambier Gift Carnival success can be attributed to support from the local community, the dedication of the organisers and stands as a beacon of sporting achievement, inspiring both seasoned athletes and aspiring talents to reach new heights in the realm of athletics.
