The Trident Tyre Centre South East Street Machines annual Show n Shine has come and gone for another year with a big turnout for its 45th year.

Club president Jim Coombe was thrilled with the attendance from both exhibitors and the public during the event on Saturday at Hastings Cunningham Reserve.

“It was absolutely fantastic,” he said.

Mr Coombe said perfect spring weather proved a boon for the event, with plenty of people keen to get a glimpse of some sleek vehicles from all across the South East.

The reserve was filled with a range of different vehicles, with 184 cars undergoing judging, plus a few more just along for the ride.

“Some cars did not want to be judged, they just wanted the opportunity to put them on show,” Coombe said.

The number of cars was an increase on previous years, as was the crowd.

Radio Station 5GTR volunteers were kept busy at the barbecue all day, ensuring the crowd was well fed.

Unfortunately the day finished earlier than normal due to the AFL grand final which was also on Saturday, however Coombe was still pleased with the good continuous crowd.

There were a couple of trucks on show with a local vehicle belonging to well-known Murray Langford, which was awarded as one of the top five cool rides.

The other top five cool ride winners were Morgan Feast, Rhonda DeBonde, ‘Swisho’ and Kym Morgan.

Those attending the event were encouraged to vote on the different categories with a $50 fuel voucher draw for the people’s choice vote and the entrant vote.

The judging was carried out by a Shannon’s Insurance representative who selected the top five cool rides which all received trophies.

Also handed out were awards for best paint, a people’s choice award, and the longest distance award which was sponsored by Roger Smith Auto in Millicent.
