The Stand Like Stone Foundation pop up shop will again open in Penola this weekend.
The pop up will be in the Mary MacKillop school hall in Portland Street.
This event provides an opportunity to refresh your wardrobe with great quality recycled clothing, some still new with tags.
There is even a chance of finding men’s and children’s clothing on some racks.
Organisers Amanda Flint and Janet Brodie are member of the Penola-Coonawarra sub fund committee of the Stand Like Stone Foundation.
Both ladies love fashion and are passionate about recycling, sustainability and offering affordable clothing to the community.
“We go into every sale with an oversubscribed waiting list of sellers which is testament to how popular the pop up is,” Mrs Brodie said.
The sales have been held three to four times a year for the past four years.
The premise is that sellers book a rack for 80 to 100 items of clothing, and the rack can be shared with others.
Coat hangers and price tags are provided.
The sellers set up their racks the evening before the sale and collect what has not sold at the end of the event.
Some choose to donate their unsold items to Stand Like Stone for the next sale.
The committee and a group of volunteers run the pop-up shop and receive 25% of the money taken by each seller as a donation to the sub fund.
The funds are then granted to charitable projects in the Penola and Coonawarra community.
The sellers receive the remainder of the takings.
Mrs Flint thanked the Mary MacKillop school for its ongoing support with the use of their hall.
“It is bright and spacious and is in a great location,” she said.
The coming sale will open between 4pm and 8pm on Friday, February 16 and 9am to 12 noon on Saturday, February 17.
Another pop up will be held during the Penola Coonawarra Arts Festival on May 18 and 19 in the Presbyterian Church Hall.
