Councillors ‘apolitical’

Wattle Range Council has become “apolitical” for the first time since its inception in 1997.

Over the past 25 years, there has always been at least one elected member who has been officially affiliated with one of the major political parties.

In this period, there have been members on Wattle Range Council from the Labor, Liberal and National parties.

However, none of the 12 current elected members have stated they have an active political party membership on their published register of interests.

One of the elected members does reveal their membership of the “Get Up!” lobby group.

The register of interests requires elected members to state their income sources as well as shares and land holdings.
