Educational funds boosted

Limestone Coast students have been provided with a funding boost for study in 2022 as the Stand Like Stone foundation announces its annual educational scholarships.

Thirty-six scholarships have been offered to students right across the Limestone Coast to help with the costs of study in 2022.

The foundation’s chief executive Roger Babolka said the scholarships were being offered due to the “ongoing generosity” of donors.

“We’re thrilled to be able to continue supporting local students in a variety of ways, from purchasing a new computer through to accommodation fees for university studies,” he said.

“Our scholarships are all about giving local students the opportunity to thrive so they, in turn, can make great contributions to our region in the future.”

“One of this year’s successful recipients is Kangaroo Inn Area School student Tryfan Evans whose application embodied the very essence of Stand Like Stone, inspiring courage and determination whilst overcoming life-long challenges.”

Tryfan’s mother Sandy Evans said her son was pleased to receive a scholarship.

“Tryfan has faced and continues to face, many personal challenges but he has never once given up on his learning and is now looking forward to starting University studies in Adelaide” she said.

Described by both his family and teachers as being determined to succeed in all that he takes on, they believe his personal challenges have strengthened his resolve to achieve.

The scholarship from Stand Like Stone will provide Tryfan with financial support for his accommodation requirements whilst in Adelaide studying at university.
