Somerfields Carpets has a new name and owners in the same great location with the same friendly local team.

Choices Flooring by Somerfields on 18 Bay Road is a one stop shop for buying and installation with the national purchasing power of a trusted and respected brand.

New owners Amy and Billy Edis wanted the name to acknowledge former owner Graham Somerfield and his family’s contribution to the renowned business.

“We want to retain the heritage of the Somerfield family that have been here for 30 years before us so we have just decided to keep that name there as a bit of a marker of what Graham has done in the past,” Mr Edis said.

Mr Edis said while the store has been recently renovated with a fresh look and exciting new products, the same top-notch customer service and expertise remains.

“We have retained the same staff and we have added a new local person as well with Loretta so the expertise you had from Somerfields Carpets years ago, that’s still there,” he said.

“We have renovated the store and we have introduced a heap of new products and a heap of new lines through the Choices group.

“Basically, it’s the exact same store but new products and a new look.

“We pride ourselves on our service, that’s our number one ethos with the business is to give good service, good value products, good value pricing.”

Mr Edis said the store is a “one stop shop from start to finish as hassle free as it can be”.

“We take care of everything so from the time that you come in to choose your product to the time it’s laid we’ll handle all that,” he said.

“We have got great local installers in town such as Rob Ellis and Jason Goodes, some of the better guys going around so we can compliment the service you get in store with quality installation.

“Store manager Phil Megaw together with Kerry, Jake and Loretta, have the expertise to guide customers on colour or style required whether it’s carpet, vinyl sheet, vinyl planks or floating floors.

“Phil has been in the flooring industry for more than 50 years, 30 in the current store and Kerry for thirteen years so there is a wealth of experience there to draw upon.

“Local is everything, you have got to support local so we’re already supporting local organisations in the Port MacDonnell Football Club, the Mount Gambier Gift and Variety Aussie Muscle Car Run 2023 and we’ll be looking to increase that local support through sponsorship as we go.”
