Friendships forged outside of work

AMillicent venue is about to host one of South Australia’s biggest works picnic.

McLaughlin Park Sports Incorporated will be hosting the Kimberly-Clark Australia Millicent Mill Social Club Christmas party on December 10.

Despite losing a significant number of workers 12 years ago and the workforce now numbering around 400, the yearly event is still one of the largest functions of its type in the state.

It has been held at McLaughlin Park for almost three decades and features music, food, a visit by Father Christmas and novelty rides and entertainments provided by the Showmen’s Guild of South Australia.

Local schools and community groups benefit from the day as they are employed by the KCA Millicent Mill Social Club to man the gates, cook the barbecues and distribute gifts.

Meanwhile, the licensed clubrooms of the Millicent Football Netball Club will follow the usual practice next month of staging a Christmas function for a local stock firm.
