Governor of South Australia Frances Adamson has become Patron of the Ryder-Cheshire Mount Gambier Home Foundation which provides life-long residences for people living with a disability in the local community.
Ryder-Cheshire Mount Gambier Home Foundation Board president Matthew Dixon said members were delighted when the Governor visited their two homes and felt honoured she had agreed to become a patron.
“Her patronage is welcome recognition of the work that has been done to build and maintain these homes for people living with a disability,” he said.
“We aim to provide the best accommodation in a caring, respectful and compassionate environment.”
Mrs Adamson toured the homes and met residents, staff and board members during her first official visit to the South East in December.
Discussions with the Governor touched on the goal of securing City Council land for a possible third complex and the board’s intention to upgrade the kitchen in the first home which was opened in 2006.
The purpose-built homes are leased to ParaQuad SA and operated by their service provider HomeCare Plus.
Each home accommodates five residents and are named Ryder and Cheshire in honour of the charity’s founders.
