Members of the public will have the opportunity to question the head of the region’s health services at community forums in Millicent and Mount Gambier in the coming weeks.
Among the scheduled meetings for Limestone Coast Local Health Network chief executive Emma Poland is the annual general meeting of the Millicent and Surrounds Health Support Group.
Better known as the MASH Group, it will meet in the Dr David Harris Room at the Millicent Visitor Information Centre at 7pm on November 26.
Among the questions expected to be posed to Ms Poland are Millicent Hospital car parking, local GP services and the likely mandated upgrades to sterilisation facilities in the operating theatres at Millicent Hospital.
MASH is a community-based group formed following a public meeting in Millicent in 2017 to discuss concerns about declining health services available for the community.
Over the past seven years, the MASH Group has established good working relationships with the LCLHN, Millicent and District Hospital and the Medical Clinic Millicent.
MASH Group spokesperson Ron Wood said new members were needed to maintain and develop its main objective.
Mr Wood said this was to maintain and improve the health services to Millicent and surrounding communities.
“MASH would like to have local people take committee positions and to represent our community and help with the recruitment and retention of doctors,” he said.
“More information about the MASH Group is available from me on 0407 262 728 or Trevor Sinclair on 0438 366 433.”
